1X01The saga of the X-Files begins as Scully joins Mulder on a strange case but something is stopping them finding the real truth.

Agent Dana Katherine Scully is assigned to the X-Files to partner Agent Fox Mulder, basically to keep him under surveillance as the government believe he is getting too close to the horrible truth which must remain buried.

The case that Scully is taken on though, is nothing like she has prepared for in Medical School or the Behavioural Science Unit. A group of school kids have been mysteriously abducted and then found dead in the nearby forest with two distinct marks on their lower backs. Mulder and Scully travel out together on their first ever case to investigate and come across a grave with an unearthly body inhabiting it.

Scully, being a medical doctor and physician, performs an autopsy on the body and comes across a strange device in the subject's nasal cavity. Having gathered lots of evidence to uncover the truth, it is suddenly taken away from them in a deliberate arson fire. The agents have started to uncover the truth, but as they will learn in years to come, the government will stop at nothing to make sure the truth remains buried.

A top class start to the series! It introduces us to the characters well and presents a strong background to build on later on. Mulder's quips in this are top class and both actors are giving it their all to set this series going!
Nitpicking
While driving down the highway, Mulder and Scully are stopped by a bright flash. When Mulder looks at his watch before this incident it reads 9:03pm. Afterwards it reads 9:12pm. This means that Mulder and Scully have lost 9 minutes. But why didn't the watch lose 9 minutes and remain at 9:03pm after the incident?
