1X06When a security photo shows a secretary named Lauren Kyte attacked by two thieves who are later found murdered in the same spot, Mulder and Scully can't decide whether Lauren is a murderer or a victim. But how can a defenseless woman kill two thugs?

Mulder and Scully take a look at the bodies, watched by two hostile military personnel, and find that the thugs have had their throats crushed from the insides. Mulder realises this must be a case of telekinesis but when they analyse the photo they find a mysterious blurred figure in the background. When enlarged, the face matches a man named Howard Graves, Lauren's old boss. He's back to protect her!

After interviewing Lauren and getting nowhere, M & S's car goes beserk and crashes. Mulder believes this was done by Lauren's ghost who makes another appearance when he kills two thugs who were about to kill Lauren. Mulder arrives after a distress call from Lauren, to see one of the thugs suspended in mid air, his throat being crushed.

When Lauren's new boss tries to also kill her he is killed, this time while Mulder is in the room. A knife flies through the air and cuts the wallpaper to reveal a tape. This is the evidence that they have been looking for after a tip off that they were doing international illegal dealings. It seems that Howard was back to find this and take revenge on the people who killed him (It was revealed that he did not commit suicide but was killed by the same thugs who tried to kill Lauren).

Rating: 2 out of 10
A ghost story is hard to come by with The X-Files and you can see why with this horrible episode. Yeah! It was terrible! For a start, the acting of the guest stars is pretty below average and some of the special effects in this episode leave a bit too be desired (take a look at the enlarged photo of the window where it shows Graves, talk about looking like a cardboard cut-out!). Still, the dialogue between Mulder and Scully is really good which is the only recently it's even got 2.
Nitpicking
Close attention to detail is what they paid with this episode. Not one single, little, squirmy, squiggly problem.
