1X13This fantastic episode begins when Scully receives terrible news of her father's death just seconds after she caught a vision of him sitting in a chair. This leaves Scully vulnerable to what lies ahead in a reverse of roles where this time, Mulder is the skeptic.

After Lucas Henry, a horrible serial killer, kidnaps again, a skeptical Mulder and Scully go to visit Luther Lee Boggs who is being held on death row after Mulder put him there. Boggs claims to have a pyshic connection with Henry and claims he can locate the kidnapped teenagers. Mulder thinks he just wants to be free in return for his ability.

After hours of pyshic 'transmissions' involving Boggs are located near 'an angel stone' and 'a waterfall...but not a waterfall...not water', M & S leave but Scully hears a terrible sound. Boggs starts singing 'Beyond The Sea' (the song played at Captain Scully's funeral) and when Scully turns she sees another vision of her father. Is her mind playing tricks on her?

On the way home, Scully sees an angel stone and a neon light of a waterfall and stops her car. Here she finds a site described exactly by Boggs, the site where the kids were held. Scully is now convinced he has a power but Mulder does not. Even so, they go back to the prison and now get information on the teenager's present location. The two agents go to check it out but Mulder is shot, just like Boggs predicted. Mulder is sent into hospital in critical condition.

Later on, Boggs is able to find the teenagers with his pyshic power but this is not enough as he is still sent to the gas chamber and is killed. Whether he had a pyshic power or not we will never know but we are sure of one thing, Scully CAN open her mind to extreme possibilities.

Rating: 10 out of 10
Wow! An episode that ranks right up there with 'Ice' . A superb performance by Gillian Anderson as a mourning Scully but also a very strong script with a fantastic storyline. The reversal of roles is refreshing and it all seems very believable. Congratulations all round to the cast and crew. It is also GA's favourite episode.
Nitpicking
A superbly written script with absolutley no problems or inconsistences.
