2X07Mulder has to continue investigating cases even with Scully gone and this latest case leads to Los Angeles, California where he encounters a group of vampires and finds himself falling for one of them.

A businessman is in his house, alone with a beautiful woman. They start doing what beautiful women and men usually do (not have coffee by the way) when suddenly the beautiful woman bites the man's arm and some other of her accomplishes come out of nowhere and jump on him sucking the life blood out of him.

Mulder returns to his abandoned office where he removes the plastic covers and puts Scully's badge and glasses into a plastic bag to be put into her very own X-File. Continuing his search for the truth, he shows up at the crime scene where he seems to know more about these viscous killings than anybody. He explains that there have been 6 deaths in Memphis and Portland and in each case the blood was sucked out of the victim's body and the killers would leave the same bible reference on the wall written in blood, John 52:54. Mulder manages to track one of the members of the cult who is in a blood bank (guess what he's doing). When the police try and interview him he screams saying that the light is "killing" him so Mulder enters and shines a red light on him which shuts him up.

Mulder does not seem to believe that they are real vampires and can be killed by conventional vampire methods so locks the member, John up in a cell with the light shining through the bars. Suddenly, John starts screaming and falls to the floor his skin having been burnt to a crisp. He's dead.

When examined, a stamp is found on the killer's hand which leads Mulder to Club Tepes where he meets with Kristen Kilar. She offers that Mulder taste her blood but he refuses so she hooks up with another man. Mulder follows them but is shoved away by the man who is soon killed by the same cult who jump on him and again suck some serious blood. A coroner who examines the body explains that there are actually three different bite marks on him.

Mulder manages to again track down Kristen. She explains that she used to be part of the cult when John and her got into "blood sports" and now she is running from them. Mulder and her er....... (can I say the word or will I be prosecuted?) have er..... kiss and after this John shows up and threatens Kristen saying she will be safe if she kills Mulder. Kristen takes the knife but instead kills another member who is in the shadows.

Mulder and Kristen escape and kill another member of the cult. Kristen returns to the house and drips gasoline everywhere. When she lights a match John is not scared saying that "Only one of us can kill us" but when Kristen tastes her blood and becomes 'one of them' he starts screaming and the house goes up in flames with Mulder at a safe distance. Later a fireman explains to Mulder that four bodies were found in the remains. Mulder is again left alone, his only comfort is the cross that used to belong to Scully...

Rating: 6 out of 10
A sort of a 'filler' which bridges the gap between the three-parter of Scully's abduction. A middle-class episode that shows Mulder getting to grips with the opposite sex and a topic that sounds too absurd even for The X-Files. Everything is just too unbelievable and the script is below average. Without Scully, something is missing from the show and the only pleasure you get from this is knowing we get to see her again the week after.
Nitpicking
It is obvious that the sun is setting in John's cell even though Mulder claims before hand that the "rising" sun will kill John.
