4X20In this episode, Mulder and Scully search for a man who seems to have the ability to change form and also there is something for the people hoping that Mulder and Scully will finally end up in bed together but in a slightly different way than they will have imagined.

The episode starts at a hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia where a woman named Amanda is giving birth. The doctors are suddenly shocked when they find that the baby they have delivered has a four-inch tail just after Amanda had told them that the baby's father came from outer space.

Mulder and Scully come to investigate when they find out about the strange birth from a local newspaper. Mulder finds out on the way to Martinsburg that five babies had been given birth each with tails in a very short space of time but Scully is slightly more skeptical and comes up with an explanation for the tails. Talking to Amanda they realize that Scully is a VERY big Star Wars fan claiming that the baby's father is none other than Luke Skywalker. The agents soon deduce though that the five babies with tails must share the same father and after a little bit of research, Mulder discovers that all five mothers were treated by the same doctor, Dr.Alton Pugh at the same fertility clinic.

The agents go into Pugh's office where they find some more angry couples complaining about their baby. Mulder searches around Pugh's office where he meets with Eddie Van Blundht, the janitor. Mulder notices that the janitor has a triangular scar below his spine so Eddie quickly tries to run but is caught and taken into custody. All five women claim that they had sex only with their husbands but Scully soon finds that Eddie was in fact the babie's father. Eddie though protests his innocence.

Later, while a sheriff is filling out Eddie's arrest record, Eddie suddenly changes form into an exact duplicate of the sheriff. Eddie knocks out the stunned sheriff and runs off. Interviewing the sheriff, the agents conclude that Eddie must have made himself look like four of the five husbands and the fifth must have thought he was Luke Skywalker.

M & S travel to Eddie's home where the speak with Eddie Sr. who says that he once acted as Eddie the monkey man with his tail still intact. Suddenly, he runs off as the agents realize that he is actually Eddie Jr. in a different form. Searching his home, they discover the dead body of Eddie Sr. and after analysing him, Scully tells Mulder that his skin is essentially made of muscle. This prompts Mulder to saying that if Eddie inherited this from his father then he would also be able to change form. Meanwhile, Eddie transforms into a duplicate of Mulder where he goes to where Amanda is staying. The real Mulder tracks him there but he is knocked out by the fake Mulder and tied up in a boiler room.

Eddie as Mulder then travels back to Washington and files his report with Skinner closing the case. Later he shows up at Scully's appartment with a bottle of wine. After a relaxing conversation Scully remarks that she feels like she is "seeing a different side" of Mulder and just as they are about to kiss (YES! YOU HAVEN'T MISREAD! MULDER & SCULLY KISSING! HONESTLY, SHE'S GOT REALLY RAUNCHY SINCE NEVER AGAIN) the real Mulder bursts in and interrupts them. Eddie suddenly changes back into his original form much to the surprise of Scully and he is taken into custody. But what will this mean for Mulder and Scully.........

Rating: 10 out of 10
One of the greatest episodes ever as it is just so damn funny! I love Darin Morgan as the shape-shifting caretaker and DD's performance is superb. He honestly looks like he is having so much fun with the role! Vince Gilligan shows that he's just as good as Darin at creating really, really great and funny episodes that go along at a great pace and are never boring. Once the Eddie turns into Mulder, the whole thing just takes off into laugh-a-second comedy and of course, there's that scene that everyone was waiting for. Unmissable!!
Nitpicking
