The X-Files debuted in 1993 with all odds stacked against it. Airing on Friday nights, when the TV audience would not be at it's peak, Fox obviously did not believe this show would go far. Neither did the cast, the crew and the critics who quickly dismissed it as only attracting a small cult following. However, since the second season, it has grown into a mainstream show and has formed a group of highly devoted fans nicknamed "The X-Philes". The show has won many awards, has been moved to Sunday nights on Fox to attract an even larger audience. It is now one of the best and well known television shows of the decade. |
